On my last post I announced that I started a 5-week all-natural, raw, vegan, organic, wild-crafted hair care routine using Morrocco Method* (MM) which of course does not have sulfates, parabens, or chemicals.

For the routine I purchased the Five Shampoo Sample Pack*, which came with .05OZ bottles of all five shampoos and the Condition & Style Sample Pack* which has two .05OZ bottles of conditioners, one styling gel and a hair detox/scalp therapy.  The small bottles are big enough for just one use.

Today I am reviewing the Morocco Method Apple Cider Vinegar Shampoo + Floating Lotus Conditioner combination and this was my result:

Morocco Method Apple Cider Vinegar Shampoo Review

I learned from the literature included in the package and on their website that the MM shampoos are based on the 5 elements: Earth, Water, Fire, Air, Ether and each one targets a different scalp concern.

The Apple Cider Vinegar Shampoo (made with raw apple cider) is MM’s most clarifying shampoo and great for removing build-up.  It represents the fire element and works to stimulate the scalp, increase blood flow, and restore the hair and scalp to a healthy pH.

I have dry hair and scalp and this shampoo was extremely moisturizing from the moment I put it on and it actually smells amazing! It is made with succulent dessert plants such as aloe vera, cactus and blood of the dragon which store water in their fleshy leaves, stems or root making them amazing humectants.  This shampoo is low foaming (don’t expect bubbles) but my hair didn’t feel dirty.   It has a great earthy/cinnamony scent which was a pleasant surprise since anytime I use apple cider to cleanse my hair it smells terrible.

Shampoo Conclusion: My hair felt clean without being stripped of its natural oils and looked moisturized. I love this shampoo and it will be in my bathroom for years to come.

Tip: you can also use the MM Apple Cider Shampoo as a facial, especially if you have acne.  It removes impurities without stripping the skin natural oils.  You can also use it as body wash.

Morocco Method Floating Lotus Conditioner Review

According to the literature, this rinse-out conditioner is great for all hair types and a great curl definer. It is made with olive oil, cactus, apple vinegar, essential oils, green tea, herbs, spices and other ingredients to stimulate, rejuvenate, revitalize and add instant moisture to the hair and scalp.  I was surprised see some of the same ingredients found on the Apple Cider Shampoo in this conditioner, such as algae and kelp (sea plants), Cactus and blood of dragon (dessert plant), and apple cider vinegar.  The texture was the same for both, a brown muddy paste.

Conditioner Conclusion: Hair wasn’t super soft, like when I have coated it with chemical-filled products but it also wasn’t hard. It was definitely very shiny, manageable and easy to detangle and lived up to its claim.  My hair was hydrated and shiny and this one is definitely a keeper.

Step By Step Routine Using Morocco Method Apple Cider Vinegar Shampoo + Floating Lotus Conditioner – Soft Curls

Step 1: I did a homemade Aloe Vera mask by removing the gel straight from the leaf and putting it on a blender until it became a foamy liquid.  I then applied the mask on my hair and left it on 15-20 minutes.

Step 2:
Washed my hair two times with the MM Apple Cider Vinegar Shampoo.  The shampoo is highly concentrated and I mixed the content of the .05 oz bottle content with equal parts water, then applied it to my hair.  This shampoo doesn’t have sulfates so it does not foam (as I mentioned above).  I was concerned my hair would not feel clean but after the second wash it definitely did. This shampoo has beautiful earthy cinnamon smell, nothing like when I make my own apple vinegar wash at home.

Step 3:
I rub the MM Floating Lotus Conditioner all over my hair, which I also mixed with equal parts water before applying. I left it on for approximately 20 minutes, which is how long it took me to get dressed and walk to the hair salon where I had them wash it out.

Step 4:
They rinsed the conditioner with a lot of water and then got magnetic rollers* (rolos) done, a smaller size than usual to get more volume.  I normally put a leave-in conditioner on my wet hair before the rollers, however I skipped this step since the MM kit didn’t include one and I want to make sure the results are accurate.

Step 5:
Went under a professional hard hat bonnet hair dryer* for 40 minutes until my hair was completely dry. I have one similar to this one* at home.

Step 6:
My stylist removed a just few rollers at a time, blow dried just the root to straighten it and then wrapped it up in “achoitas” secured with a bobby pin as pictured below.  She repeated this step until my whole head was done.

Step 7:
Loosen them up and below is the result.  I then did a head shake and by the time I got home the curls loosened up.

MM Apple Cider Vinegar Shampoo + Floating Lotus Conditioner Conclusion:
I AM SOLD! This combination was amazing and I feel so good feeding my hair good stuff instead of all those harsh chemicals.  I feel like my hair is happy and so well behaved and I’ve noticed have manageable it has become ever since I started using natural hair products in general.  This week it is the prettiest I’ve seen it since I went natural.

So what do you think?  If you want to see what happens during this 5-week try out, you can check my instagram on Sundays for a sneak peak and then come back to the blog on Thursday for the full details.  Each week I will be rotating shampoos and posting results of my shampoo/conditioner combination.

I am so looking forward to the next one tomorrow! (I was a bit delayed on this post).

Xo, Leslie

Well, I have naturally curly hair and I pay really, really good money for keratin treatments to get rid of them. I bet these products smell amazing, but I can only use certain things on my hair because of the keratin.

    • These products are very mild so I would be surprised if you can’t use them. I did the keratin treatment 2-3 teams years ago.

  • Lisa @bitesforbabies

These products sound amazing!! I love natural products and I love apple cider vinegar…I eat it, cook with it, and I actually use it nightly as an astringent! I hadn’t even thought about putting it in my hair!

  • Krystal

Wow! Your hair looks amazing! I love everything natural, so I’ll definitely be giving this a shot. Your hair has convinced me!

    • That’s a huge compliment considering I’ve complaint about hair my entire life until I went relaxer free. I had no idea I was the one hurting it.

  • Ben

I’ve got to give this a try. I have super long hair, and I condition heavily. It’s probably about time I did the whole clarifying thing.

  • I’ve never tried this brand but I’m so happy to hear that you’ve made the organic switch! :D And your final results looks amazing. I’m going to have to try curls sometime, my hair is so long…I’ve been stuck in the pony tail for too many years.

  • Fiona Naughton

Your hair looks gorgeous, the shine on it is amazing! I could do with some of that conditioner because my hair is always so hard to detangle.

  • My mum swears by apple cider vinegar! Your hair looks amazing too – I have really long, Rapunzel like hair now, I should really clarify it.

    • So lucky! loooooong hair is my goal. My hair is very slot to grow.

  • Julie A Beveridge

That looks great. I wonder if my fine limp hair would withstand all the moisturizing It doesn’t do well with even light conditioners. I like the rollers, reminds of when i did that with my hair every night. Nice review!

    • I’d be curious to hear about your results. Their Earth Essence Shampoo is good for oily hair if that’s what you mean by limp. I have very thin hair but dry so it can be limp too if the wrong products.

  • CourtneyLynne

Omg this sounds like a great option! I’m apple cider anything obsesses because of its benefits! I need to look more into this :)

  • elgeorgia

Wow, it sounds like a lot of work. But the results are definitely beautiful! I am wondering if it will work on my hair. Hope so! Diane Sullivan

I love that you can use the shampoo as face and body wash. I would love that while in the shower. The ingredients in the shampoo sound amazing. (Real Talk Moms)

  • It looks like you found yourself the perfect product. I’d love to read a follow up in a few months.

  • That’s interesting that the product incorporates the five elements. It sounds like it smells good. From what you’ve written, I’m curious to see how this would work with my hair.

    • If you decide to try them, please do share your results.

  • This looks like really great hair product. It’s really nice because you can use it as a body wash as well.

    • I know! isn’t that awesome. You can use it a facial cleanser too.
